Exams

I know I know... My school is one of the lag-iest school in Singapore. Everyone else is gonna finish their exams soon while mine hasn't even started. But I can't do anything about it, can I?
=(

In any case, it is finally gonna start on Mon. Time passes so fast. In fact, today is the last official day of the year. By official, I mean attending lessons and receiving homework and such. Something to both celebrate and cry over. Celebrate cos we won't have to do all those stupid homework while sad that the exams are just 3 days away!

The first 2 papers on Mon and Tue are the languages. Wed is Chemistry and Fri is Physics. The first 2 mug-gable subjects. Physics I am quite ok with it now but Chemistry is quite tough. The stupid anion tests table is super hard to memorise... And so it the chapter on air & environment. Sigh... Gotta work harder in the weekend!

Freedom. 2 weeks to go.

I think it's like almost all the SMRP students signed up for BSC loh. We didn't have much choice anyway.

Take a look at the circled part. We must provide a reason if we don't want to attend the allocated time slot. And if we simply don't put the reason, won't it leave a bad impression to the teachers?

Just got news yesterday that I am shortlisted for the Beijing Satellite Campus Programme. Note the word "shortlisted'. That means it's not confirmed yet.

And to think tancw is discouraging people now. I don't give a damn lah. If going for it means I am gonna sacrifice a bit of NPCC, it's still quite ok, I guess. It's not like I am going there forever anyway. It's only for a freaking one month! And I could always make arrangements for someone to cover my duties in NPCC in my absence.

That said, it still has to depend on whether I am confirmed going for it. Whatever lah.

THE BIG BLACKOUT

Quite an interesting day I would say...

At around 7am, I was playing chapteh outside my classroom. Then, I spotted the lights in my classroom going out. I thought that some people might be being lame again and so, I didn't bother much about it. Then, I heard yellings from the whole sec 3 block. That was when I realised that there is a power shortage.

Hah. Everything was cut off completely. The mike could not be used during flag raising and hence, no announcements. During reading period, it was quite warm and dark inside the classrooms and hence, we were allowed to read our magazines outside. But most of us just slacked off anyway.

The whole row of us "reading our magazines" outside.

Another shot.

People on the upper floors.

A shot into the classroom.

The only thing left that is working...

At about 8.30am, the power was finally restored. I was at history class at that time and was about to die from the warmth when the fans finally started turning. Soon, shoutings were heard from almost the whole school. Heh.

Changed seat again this term. Zzz...

Gonna be under that stupid aircon again. Argh.

Whatever lah.

Wake me up when September ends...

Sound quite applicable to most of us now, considering that our exams are somewhere in October. =D

ATC review

Ok. So I am gonna blog about ATC after all. Hah.

Day 1

Reached school at around 6.30am since we are supposed to fall in at 7. Yawn... Certainly a too-early-morning for a holiday. First thing that went wrong even before the camp started was that the bus company apparently sent the wrong bus to us. In the end, the 22 of us who turned up (a lot pon-ed) was packed into the 28-seater bus, along with all our backpacks. The sec 2s were lucky. They got the 42-seater bus. Zzz.

After sleeping through most of the journey, we finally arrived at Changi Jetty. After stoning for quite some time, we finally got onto the boat and sped off to Ubin. First thing that we have to do after we got there was to trek to the NPCC Campsite inside Ubin. Maybe you would call it poor luck but Shuo Yan was following our group. And, he made us cheer every 100m. And no prize for guessing who was leading all the cheers...

After reaching the campsite, it was more stoning before we were split into our various groups and went off for ice breakers. At the start, we were like very quiet and only our CI kept talking. Anyway, our CIs were Yong Wei and Jonathan from another school. However, we started to open up more after that and soon, we started to talk to one another. For those who didn't know, ATC is a camp for a few schools and each group consisted of people from the various schools.

Once lunch (once again, it was canned food and instant noodles) was over, we had tent pitching. Just got a lot of scoldings for the lamest reasons you can think of. For example. Hao Jie, Hongliang and Cyril got scolded just cos they spoke Chinese. A bit zzz, right?

Anyway, next up was orienteering lessons. Nothing much happened. Next, it was team building games. The skipping rope challenge was quite fun but the mines challenge was a bit lame, I guess. Soon, it was time for dinner and preparation for our campfire item and cheer. Then, it was practising of campfire cheers, where the hci people were just stoning around cos we didn't really know most of the cheers. After debrief and washing up, it was time for bed, or in this case, tent.

Day 2

Woke up at around 1.50am for Sentry Duty. Most of the time, I was staring into the sky and thinking of a lot of stuff. It seems like a wonder how I had made it through the first day. After all, I didn't attend last year's ATC cos of some stupid disease and I was quite new to this campsite. Ai yah, whatever lah.

Went back to sleep at around 2.15am and woke up again at 5.30am. PT started at 6 and no prize again for guessing who led the PT session. I was sabo-ed. -.-

And yeah, we did 2 sets of 5BX and ran a few laps around the driveway. Not really heavy if you want my honest opinion. But apparently, I felt a bit sick after that and had to rest for a while before regaining my strength.

After breakfast, we had High Ropes Challenge. To admit, I was a bit scared at first but after I got up there, all it takes was the "Just-Do-It" attitude. Quite fun, I will say. This lasted all the way to lunch and after that, we set off for land expedition. Well... After OBS, all this land expedition is like nothing compared to OBS. It was just the weather that made it slightly unbearable. When we reached back, we had a short rest and then went off for rafting. Quite useless, I shall say. We spent about an hour tying the lashings but only rafted for about 15 min.

After wash-up, our group got scolded for being late by 10min. Ok, it was our fault. I admit that too. Dinner was quiet and once again, a group of CIs came and scold us again for some crappy reasons. Things were just not going well. But in any case, we started to get serious and discussed our campfire item and cheer. The performance was based on the theme of "Movies" and most of it was impromptu. The cheer was an edit of the school cheer Countdown.

BRAVO!

Campfire rocked! Although the fire wasn't really well-sustained, I enjoyed the songs and cheers a lot. =D

Day 3

PT started at 6.30am. This time, I only led the warm up and the CIs took over. We had some relay matches, which consisted of skipping, pumping and sit-ups. As some groups had more people, me and Hao Jie had 2 rounds. After breakfast, it was area cleaning and my group was in charge of most of the sweeping jobs. What perfect job for me! -.-

The rest of the day we were in quite high spirits and the atmosphere was like, high! No words could describe it. It was a totally cool experience!

After photo-taking and exchanging contact details, school by school, we departed and left with the joyous memories.

Arrived at school at around 1.30pm.

BRAVO '07, we rocked! =)

And I missed bio lesson cos of ATC. Today's lesson was for 3C but since I wasn't feeling very good, I didn't turn up for it.

Oh great.

5 September 2007 to 7 September 2007

Spent these 2.5 days at Ubin for Sec 3 ATC. To admit, it was much better than what I had expected. I guess my greatest take-away would making new friends bah. Hah. Oh well, shall not bore you all with the details of the camp. =)

On another note,
THANK YOU BRAVO! =D

Ok. So here I am blogging again instead of doing some work. After all, my grades are seriously screwed this term. The most obvious choice would be to pick up a worksheet now and start doing my holiday homework. But my mind has decided that I would not do this. Heh.

Anyway, thanks for the presents guys! I will blog about each of them after I received Kevin Toh's one. Trust me, I will! =D

Back to the topic on grades. I really wish for someone to come down from above and enlighten me on why I did so poorly. I mean, I only played computer games after the tests. And I had not been sleeping in class this term, at least not for the non-video related lessons.

Perhaps it's NPCC. But seeing quite a bit of them having MSG less than 2, I am quite convinced it's not cos of that. But maybe it's cos I had committed myself to many stuff. But I am merely pursuing my interests by taking courses like kayaking! Sigh...

Oh well, I am seriously gonna go into mugging mode for the EOYs. Hope that that helps. =)

Time for a change in topic. Hah. I had just realised that at times, when you try to blog about interesting stuff, it will come out as boring as a piece of composition that we do in primary school.

Take for example, you had a party today that you feel that you simply must blog about. Even if you try to add in pictures, to the viewer, it will still turn out as nothing but a diary entry. That's the reason why I don't usually blog about daily happenings now.

I mean, if the readers were to just simply skim through the blog entry that took you half an hour to type, it would be nothing but a waste of time right?
